Drought-like conditions create North Shore fire threat

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Lack of rain poses a fire threat on the North Shore.

Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller says while an official burn ban is not in place, he wants people to avoid burning leaves and tree limbs.

Fire chiefs in the area worry drought-like conditions combined with burning could produce an extreme fire hazard. Several departments have already been called out recently to fight intense grass fires.
