NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A 51-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident Sunday night in the Treme neighborhood.
Around midnight, New Orleans police responded to a call of an injured pedestrian near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and St. Philip Street.
When they arrived, they found a seriously injured 51-year-old man who appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the man had fled the scene. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name and the official cause of death.
The accident remains under investigation. Police are searching for video surveillance cameras in the area that may have captured the accident.
