ALGIERS, LA (WVUE) -

A 14-year-old girl told her mother that she was sexually assaulted by an unknown male at Landry Walker High School in Algiers, according to New Orleans police.

The suspected assault happened on Wednesday around 6 p.m.

The alleged victim said the attacker approached her and said he needed to ask the girl a question. The two walked into a secluded room and the male student allegedly assaulted the 14-year-old.

Police said a teacher walked into the room during the incident and caught the pair in the act.

During the investigation, a detective met with the male student who said the incident was consensual. No further information was provided. The investigation is ongoing.

The school would not comment because the students are minors.
