NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The FOX 8 Defenders saved consumers $109,345 over the last five months. Between June and October, volunteers with the National Council of Jewish Women who staff our consumer advocacy program worked on nearly 1,000 consumer cases.
June 192 cases handled $27,535 saved
July 136 cases handled $3,000 saved
August 192 cases handled $26,200 saved
September 243 cases handled $43,610 saved
October 223 cases handled $9,000 saved
NCJW volunteers handled a lot of concerns involving renters and landlords for example. They were successful in helping some tenants get their deposits back. In another complaint for example, after the FOX 8 Defenders made calls about a broken part on lawn equipment, the manufacturer replaced the entire equipment for the consumer.
Since January, the total savings to viewers across our area adds up to $243,970.
