NOPD promotes 12 officers

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Police Superintendent Michael Harrison promoted 12 officers Thursday.

Three new lieutenants and nine new sergeants will become front line supervisors in the filed who directly supervise, manage and lead other officers every day.

Chief Harrison said, "I'm so proud of you that right now you're taking that next step. Some of you to the rank of lieutenant, some of you to the rank of sergeant. But they are now living out their dreams, and these are the future leaders of the department".

The new leaders will start their positions on Sunday. The NOPD said the 12 officers underwent extensive training to equip them for their new job duties.
