NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Dionte "Spade" Jones in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred on November 9, 2016, in the 7800 block of Curran Boulevard.

At about 6:25 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call at the location. The victim told police that he had arranged to pick up his friend, whom he identified as Jones, from his apartment. Police say the two then drove in the victim's 2013 black Nissan Altima, bearing Louisiana license plate ZQA247, to a location in the Fourth District before returning to the Seventh District. The victim said that Jones told him to drive to a location in the 7800 block of Curran Boulevard. Once they arrived at the location, the victim said Jones produced a dark-colored handgun from his backpack and ordered the victim to hand over his cellphone and wallet and leave the vehicle. The victim complied and ran to the intersection of Shorewood and Curran boulevards, where he then flagged down a citizen and contacted police.

The victim told police that his vehicle, as well as his white Apple iPhone GS, silver 13-inch MacBook Air computer and his wallet containing identification were stolen in this incident. The victim told police he later positively identified Barnes from a photo lineup as the suspect in this incident.

Jones is described as having a large tattoo of an outline of a spade on the front of his neck.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Dionte "Spade" Jones is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
