NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating an accidental death after a man fell from a third story Bourbon Street balcony.

The incident occurred in the 900 block of Bourbon Street early Saturday morning.

Workers nearby said the man, who was visiting from out-of-town, fell to his death when the railing of the balcony broke, but police could not provide information on exactly what happened before the man fell.

By Saturday afternoon, workers replaced the gap in the balcony with a piece of wood.

Police said they will investigate the death as an accident pending an autopsy.
