Tulane student at home when residence burglarized

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Someone burglarized a Tulane student’s residence early Tuesday morning, according to the university’s police department.

It happened around 5:55 a.m. in the 7200 block of Spruce St.

The student said they were awakened to lights being turned on in the living room of their apartment.

When they confronted the burglar, he said he was leaving the residence and went out through the front door, police said. A backpack and laptop had been stolen.

Officers said the front door had been left unsecured.

The perpetrator is described as an African-American man between 40-50 years of age, 170 lbs., wearing a brown shirt, brown hat and green sweat pants.

Police did not release any other information.
