Orleans Parish coroner identifies Palmyra Street homicide victim

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The Orleans Parish coroner has identified a man shot and killed in Mid-City early Tuesday morning.

Kharen Chapman, 30, was shot and killed in the 3200 block of Palmyra Street.

New Orleans police responded to several calls reporting gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they found Chapman lying in the middle of the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the shooting started at the Chapman’s home on Palmyra Street and ended in the 300 block of South Jefferson Davis Parkway.

The Chapman’s vehicle, described as a 2015 silver, four-door Infiniti with a Louisiana license plate of WXG810, was taken from the area during the incident. 

Homicide Detective Thomas Ripp is leading the investigation and can be reached at 504-658-5300.
