Two Wednesday night carjackings reported in New Orleans

The wave of carjackings continues to roll through New Orleans as two more incidents were reported Wednesday night.

According to initial New Orleans Police Department reports, the first incident occurred just after 6:20 p.m. in the 100 block of North Cortez Street.

The victim, a 37-year-old woman, and her young son were getting out of her car when she was approached by a suspect described as a black man with a dark complexion.

The suspect pulled a gun and demanded the victim’s purse and car keys.

The victim complied and the subject fled in her white Lexus. 

The next incident occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 7800 block of Ebbtide Drive.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, pulled into her driveway and was approached by a suspect described as an armed black male with dreadlocks.

The suspect opened her driver’s side door and demanded her keys.

The victim complied and the suspect fled in her car.

The vehicle was recovered a short time later.
