NOPD investigating two separate shootings in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two shootings in New Orleans East that happened less than 15 minutes apart.

Police say the first shooting happened around 1:27 p.m. at the intersection of Dwyer Road and Wilson Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 26-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Investigators are working to determine a motive and a suspect in the shooting.

The second shooting happened just a short time later in the 6000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

Officers responded to a shooting call just after 1:40 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man near an apartment complex suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Seventh District detectives are investigating both shootings.
