SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - A Slidell man couldn't wait for his holiday booze so decided to drive through the front of a liquor store to get an early start.
Slidell police received a call around 5:45 a.m. Thursday reporting the front of Jack's Beverage in the 1100 block of Old Spanish Trail was destroyed after a vehicle smashed through the front glass doors.
When police arrived, they found the front of the store destroyed but no vehicle in the store.
Police have charged Alfred Nevis, 46, of the 500 block of Guzman Street with burglary of a business, criminal damage, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A review the store's surveillance videos showed a gold Ford Explorer ramming through the front of the store, pulling back out and then stopping in the parking lot.
The video shows Nevis then ran into the store and came out clutching several bottles of alcohol.
Later police found a vehicle parked near the 500 block of Guzman Street which matched the description of the suspect vehicle.
Police spoke with Nevis, who told them he owned the gold Ford Explorer.
Nevis then admitted to driving the vehicle through the front of the store. He told police he is addicted to crack cocaine and that he traded the stolen bottles of alcohol for crack.
