THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) -

Senior Ja’Dante’ Frye scored a career-high 33 points and junior Lafayette Rutledge led a second-half 3-point barrage with five of his seven 3-pointers as the Nicholls State's men’s basketball team erased a 19-point deficit to defeat Samford Sunday night, in double overtime, 106-103.

Led by Rutledge, the Colonels made a season-high 16 3-pointers, with 14 coming after halftime to help wipe out the Samford lead. Rutledge knocked home a triple with 20 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime at 83-all and he then came through with the game-winner in double OT with 38 seconds remaining for a 102-100 lead.

The Colonels will stay on the road to take on in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday.
