NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The New Orleans Police Department says that a man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly breaking into a home on Bruxelles Street.
A witness told police that around 12:30 p.m. he saw a man leaving a home in the 2600 block of Bruxelles St. with a black bag through the front door.
According to police, the witness approached the suspect and told him that he was going to call the police. The suspect was then seen fleeing the scene on foot.
The homeowner returned to the home and met up with the witness who told the homeowner about the burglary.
Around 2 p.m., police received a call from the homeowner stating that they were following the suspect in the 1000 block of Decatur Street.
The suspect, who was later identified as 26-year-old David Lee Rhines, was apprehended and taken back to the home on Bruxelles St. where police observed a broken window and tools missing from the home.
Rhines was booked with simple burglary and criminal damage in the amount of $350.
