Police: 10-month-old killed in Marrero double shooting

MARRERO, LA (WVUE) -

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating a double shooting in Marrero that left a 10-month-old boy dead and an unidentified man injured. The incident occurred Saturday around 4:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Caddy Drive. 

According to police, responding deputies arrived on scene to find the 10-month-old boy and the unidentified man, who police believe to be in his early 20's, each suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The 10-month-old, identified as Xyahir Davis, was transported to West Jefferson Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, shortly after arriving. The unidentified man, was transported to University Medical Center where he is undergoing surgery. He is listed in serious condition.

Investigators learned that the unidentified victim and the Davis were in the home at the time of the incident, along with Davis's father and three other males. Witnesses told investigators that someone opened the front door and began firing in the home. 

Multiple shell casings were recovered near the front door and inside the home. 

Detectives are working to identify the person(s) responsible as well as a motive.
