NOPD arrests man for raping woman; suspected of similar crimes

New Orleans police arrested a man accused of kidnapping, raping and hitting a woman in the St. Roch area.

Investigators said the attack happened on Nov. 30 in the 2800 block of Florida Ave.

The victim said around 5:30 a.m., Seandell Kelly, 25, grabbed her cell phone and threw it in the street before dragging her into an alley. Kelly then hit and sexually assaulted the woman, according to the NOPD.

Authorities charged Kelly with second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and second-degree battery in connection with the attack. Investigators believe Kelly could be connected similar incidents involving other females.

Officers believe he targeted women walking during the early morning hours in the New Orleans area.
