NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Major changes arrive Thursday with a strong north wind delivering much colder air. Expect temperatures to start off in the 50s early in the morning but fall into the 40s by late afternoon. You won't necessarily need a coat when you leave home, but you will likely be looking for one before the day is out. The winds will make it feel like the 30s by evening.
Freezes are expected Friday and Saturday morning on the North Shore with temperatures in the upper 20s. Mid to upper 30s are likely south of the lake. Pets and tropical plants will need to be protected.
Expect a temperature rebound over the weekend as highs reach back into the 50s and 60s. Clouds will return on Sunday.
Our next good rain chance will be on Monday followed by another chance on Wednesday. It is likely to turn colder again on Wednesday with another strong cold front.
