NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - There will be a few showers around the area today, but major changes arrive thanks to a strong north wind delivering much colder air! Temperatures are starting off in the 50s early in the morning, but they will fall be dropping throughout the day. You won't necessarily need a coat when you leave home, but you will likely be looking for one before the day is out. The winds will make it feel like the 30s by evening!
Freezes are expected Friday and Saturday morning on the North Shore with temperatures in the upper 20s. Mid to upper 30s are likely south of the lake. Pets and tropical plants will need to be protected.
Expect a temperature rebound over the weekend as highs reach back into the 50s and 60s. Clouds will return on Sunday.
Our next good rain chance will be early next week. It is likely to turn colder again on Wednesday with another strong cold front.
