COVINGTON, LA (WVUE) - Covington Police is once again offering its residents free rides home during the holiday season. It is an effort to keep intoxicated people from getting behind the wheel of their cars.
"Last holiday season we offered rides home for anyone in Covington that needed a sober driver and several people took us up on that offer. Our top priority is always public safety so we will give the same offer this year and hope that everyone can safely enjoy the holidays." Chief Tim Lentz said.
The ride home program is free to any Covington resident needing a ride home, within a reasonable distance, from businesses inside the city limits during the holiday season.
To get a ride home, please call the Covington Police Department at (985) 892-8500 and an officer will be sent to your location.
