Two Tulane students robbed at gunpoint near campus

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two Tulane students were robbed at gunpoint near campus on Thursday night, according to New Orleans and Tulane PD reports.

The robbery happened around 1:30 a.m. on South Robertson Street about half a block from the Monroe Hall gate.

The two women, both 18, were sitting on a curb when they were confronted by two suspects, one of which was armed.

The suspects forced the victims to empty their pockets. One suspect also searched their pockets and fled with a cell phone on South Robertson to Calhoun Street.

Police do not know if the suspects had a getaway vehicle.

The victims described the suspects as:

  • Black man, early 20s, between five-feet-eight and five-feet-eleven-inches tall, wearing jeans and a black hoodie. He was armed with a silver and black handgun, possibly semi-automatic.
  • There is no description of the second suspect.
