SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

A man and a woman were arrested in Slidell after police pulled them over in a shopping mall parking lot and found a gun, unrestrained children and the strong smell of pot wafting from the car.

While on patrol on at the Fremaux Town Center, officers stopped a car. As they approached the vehicle, they smelled marijuana and saw two small children in the backseat.

One of the children was in a car seat and the other was standing on the seat with no car seat for him.

Police then saw a handgun on the rear floorboard in front of the children.

Police asked the two adults out of the car and confiscated the gun.

Police learned the gun was stolen out of New Orleans after an NCIC search was conducted.

The driver, Tasia Singleton, and the passenger, Ramon Singleton, were arrested on several charges, including possession of a stolen firearm, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, no child restraint, and turn signal required.
