Jefferson Parish voters decide on three property taxes, parish-wide sales tax

JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish voters will decide on whether to continue paying three property taxes, as well as a parish-wide sales tax on Saturday.

Sales tax millage: Passed

Renewing a sales tax for 20 years beginning in 2022 to cover the costs of building, replacing, improving and maintaining sewerage, road and drainage projects.

Schools millage: Passed

Renewing a property tax of 4 mills for 10 years beginning in 2018. This would give additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools.

Drainage millage: Passed

Renewing a property tax of 6 mills for 10 years beginning in 2017 for construction, improvement, and maintaining or operating drainage.

Recreation millage: Passed

Renewing 10 mill property tax for 10 years beginning in 2017 for acquiring, building, improving, maintaining and operating recreation and other facilities.
