(WVUE) - Lutcher trailed at halftime to Amite but they never panicked. A huge second-half rebound propelled the Bulldogs to a 40-36 win to claim its second-consecutive and eighth overall state championship.
"The one thing that I talked about with this football team all year long is that we find ways to overcome adversity," said Lutcher Coach Dwaine Jenkins. "We never get down on ourselves and we just keep believing."
Senior quarterback Jontre Kirklin powered the Bulldog (13-2) offense, accounting for four total touchdowns.
