NOPD arrests man in New Orleans East triple shooting

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrested a man in connection with a Monday morning New Orleans East triple shooting.

Kerry Francois, Sr., 33 was arrested at the scene early Monday morning.

Around 6:20 a.m., officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 6700 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

When they arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, a 61-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and a 74-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the knee.

The three were taken to a nearby hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening wounds.

Police learned that the 45-year-old male victim, who is an employee at the discount store, became involved in an argument with a female customer who was demanding a refund.

Her husband, Francois, was outside of the store at the time, entered the store and joined the argument.

The manager then asked both leave the store.

The female and Francois agreed to leave and the store owner walked them out armed with a handgun.

Francois and the female got into their vehicle and began to pull off.

At that point, police believe Francois stopped, got out of the car with a gun and opened fire from the parking lot into the store striking all three victims.

The store manager did not return fire.

Francois was arrested on the scene without incident and booked with three counts of aggravated battery by shooting.
