NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The City Planning Commission will decide December 13 whether to move forward plans to overhaul part of St. Bernard Avenue with a hotel.
According to our partners at Nola.com|The Times-Picayune, a developer wants to build a hotel with 44 rooms at 1213 St. Bernard Ave. The 7th Ward property is a triangular shaped parcel about one block away from the new St. Claude-Rampart streetcar line.
City planning workers have already submitted a report to the commission. They say hotel-retail use is appropriate for that area, but the proposed 60-foot-tall building as currently designed "would be far taller and bulkier than any other structure in the vicinity."
Plans filed with the city don't make it clear what the name of the hotel would be or whether it would would be operated under a corporate flag.
