KENNER, LA (WVUE) - A Harahan man was arrested Monday for coercing a teen into oral sex in exchange for helping her financially troubled family, according to a news release from the Kenner Police Department.
Kenneth Bryant, 46, of Normandy Avenue, was booked on an outstanding arrest warrant for the crimes of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and molestation of a juvenile.
On Nov. 22, the Police Department received a complaint from Children's Hospital in reference to a 16-year-old girl who alleged she was coerced into the sex act by Bryant, who was the landlord of the building where her family lived. Bryant allegedly told the victim that he was aware that her parents had financial problems, and he would make the problems go away if she complied. According to the complaint, Bryant also threatened to kick the family out if she did not do what he wanted.
Police said they recovered text messages in which Bryant and the victim were arguing over his demand for intercourse with the teen.
Bryant has been released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on a $50,000 bond.
Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser is urging anyone who has information about the investigation or Kenneth Bryant to call Detective Brad Ricke at (504) 712-2214.
