NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police arrest a man after he kidnaps a woman in an attempt to retrieve cash from her debit card. The incident occurred Sunday around 5:15 a.m. in the 1100 block of Chimney Wood Lane.
According to police, the suspect, identified as 54-year-old Clarence Cobbs, broke into the victim's home and began searching for cash. Cobbs then realized the victim was awake and forced her into her vehicle. He forced her to drive to a business in order to retrieve cash from her debit card. Police say that after stopping at the first business, the victim attempted to get away but Cobbs put her in the trunk. She eventually was able to escape and contact authorities.
Police arrested Cobbs after he was seen at the victim's home trying to retrieve some belongings he left behind.
He was booked with aggravated kidnapping.
