Three people shot in Central City

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in Central City that left two people injured - one by gunfire and another by flying glass when bullets struck a passing RTA bus. It was initially thought that a third person had been struck, but that has not been confirmed.

The incident occurred Tuesday at about 4 p.m. at Freret Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to police. The condition of the gunshot victim is not known. The bus passenger reportedly sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses said people on the bus told the driver to keep going as the bus was hit by gunfire. It came to a stop about a mile away at Loyola and Howard.

At least two homes in the 2500 block of MLK were hit.

"The next thing I know, everybody is running around this corner, and all I saw after that was...my house that I own, I could see where a bullet hit the door," said Cornelius Maneaux. "That bullet then either then ricocheted and hit the front window...and I was like in shock."
