Manager details Gentilly donut store robbery

Gentilly donut shop robbed at gunpoint

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The manager of a Gentilly donut shop described the harrowing moments when a gunman barged into the shop and robbed the business.

The manager of Daddy Donuts, who asked not to be identified, says she was with another employee at the time when the armed robber walked in, pulled out a gun and demanded cash.

The robbery was caught on camera Tuesday around lunchtime.

The robber was wearing a fisherman's hat, red shirt, and blue jeans.

The manager said he ordered an employee to put cash in a plastic bag.

Around $130 was stolen in the robbery.

The experience shook up the employees at the store, but they returned to work the following day grateful no one was hurt.

An employee was the first to encounter the robber while she was bending down below the counter.

"At that point, the girl looked at me and said 'we're getting robbed right now so I wouldn't come up and scare the guy,'" she said. "And when I got up he pointed the gun at me and he said 'I want the money.'"

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
