NOPD: Woman assaulted while jogging on levee in Algiers

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The NOPD is searching for an unknown black male wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred Wednesday night (Dec. 28) in the 700 block of Patterson Drive.

A 34-year-old female reported that around 8:45 p.m. she was jogging on the paved path at the top of the Mississippi River levee when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male who had been seated on a nearby bench.

The victim said the male choked her and sexually assaulted her, and struck her in the head when she fought back. He then fled the scene. The victim called for help and was assisted by passersby. She was then taken to a local hospital.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, thin build and shoulder-length dreadlocks. He is approximately 6’ tall and was wearing a white shirt with black print, black shorts and a blue baseball cap with a red brim.
