Police search for man accused of sucker-punching Uptown bar patron

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are looking for a man who punched another man in a bar in the 4800 block of Magazine Street on Dec. 26. They said the attacker was caught on surveillance video around 10:30 p.m.

Police said the victim walked into the bar around 10:20 p.m. to meet a friend. A few moments after placing an order with the bartender, an unknown white male approached the victim and tapped him on the shoulder. The victim told police when he turned around, the man punched him in the face. The victim sustained a broken bone and damage to his teeth.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-to-late 20s, about 5’8” with short, dark hair and glasses. Police released surveillance pictures of the man. Anyone who knows him or can help police find him is asked to call Second District detectives at (504) 658-6020 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
