THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Three men were arrested Dec. 30 after illegal narcotics were found during a traffic stop, according to Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue.
At approximately 8:51 p.m., 20-year-old Luis Reymundo, the driver of a red Chrysler 300, along Alexander Smith, 21, and Cain Bridges, 19, drove past two Thibodaux police officers who were standing in the parking lot of a restaurant. As they passed the officers, Smith hung his head out of the window and began yelling profanities as Reymundo ran a stop sign and failed to use a turn signal at Westover Drive and N. Canal Boulevard.
Officers stopped the cars a short distance away and smelled what they believed to be marijuana, police said. After a K9 alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, marijuana was found inside the vehicle. During the investigation, it was also discovered that Smith and Bridges had eaten some of the marijuana to try to hide it from officers. Officers also found suspected LSD on Bridges.
Bridges, of Schriever, was booked with possession of LSD, possession of marijuana and obstruction of Justice. He was released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Dec. 31 2016 after posting his $5,800 bond.
Smith, also of Schriever, was booked with possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice. He was released from the Detention Center on Dec. 31 after posting a $800 bond.
