NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A Mid-City man says a woman tried to seek refuge in his home while she was being attacked.
According to initial New Orleans Police Department reports, around 2:20 a.m. a 24-year-old woman was asleep in her car in the 2300 block of Conti Street when she was awakened by two Hispanic males opening her car door.
The victim got out of her vehicle and attempted to run.
One of the men ran behind her firing two shots.
The men then fled in her white 2005 Mazda 6.
Nathan Claypoole was asleep in his home in the 2300 block of Conti Street when he was awakened by shouting and gunfire.
Claypoole said the woman was attempting to escape her attackers when she came to his house.
Claypoole said the woman tried to break his window and get in a front door.
He boarded up the window but couldn't understand why the woman chose his home.
"I really couldn't say for sure I guess it was, I would assume it was the closest thing to her and who knows I imagine she was kind of freaked out so wasn't necessarily thinking super clearly," Claypoole said
