NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Our Saints season review continues with the five best bargains on the roster in 2016. These are the players whose production far surpassed their price tag.

Here are our top five:

5.) Brandin Cooks

True, he threw a temper tantrum about his lack of touches midseason. No, it wasn't a good look. Still, Cooks' production surpassed what it costs to have him. He finished with 78 catches, 1173 yards and eight touchdowns, well worth his $1.18 million 2016 base salary.

4.) Craig Robertson

Robertson was brought in to help on special teams but became so much more than that. He surpassed James Laurinaitis on the depth chart and started most of the year at middle linebacker. Robertson led the team with 115 tackles and had one interception. His base salary in 2016 was $765,000.

3.) Nick Fairley

Fairley played in all 16 games for the first time in his career. He finished with 43 tackles and 6.5 sacks, second on the team. His base salary was $765,000. Fairley is set to hit the free agent market which means he won't be that cheap for much longer.

2.) Willie Snead

Snead takes the runner-up spot for the second year in a row. He finished the season with 72 receptions, 895 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw for one against the Rams. Snead's 2016 base salary was $525,000.

1.) Michael Thomas

Our best bargain for the Saints in 2016 goes to rookie wide receiver Michael Thomas. He exploded to set franchise rookie records for receptions (92), yards (1137) and touchdowns (9). He has all the makings of a franchise cornerstone and his base salary was all of $450,000 in 2016.

John Emery, Jr. has been terrorizing defenders since he stepped up to the varsity squad at Destrehan. His rise to the second-best running back in the country according to 247 Sports, comes as no surprise to many, including his head coach.  "You could see it early. You could see it coming through the middle schools, he had that special talent. There was comparisons to Rondell Mealey, who had a great career here. You could see him develop, and once he got here you could see t...

Ja'Marr Chase was one of the best receivers to come out of Rummel, but now he's at LSU. No worries, the Raiders still have four-star receiver Koy Moore. "He taught me a lot on my routes. High-point the ball, because you see he's real good at that. He taught me stuff like that. I taught him some things, we teach each other to get better," said Rummel receiver Koy Moore.
