Insurance companies blame drivers for rate hikes

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Auto insurance companies blame some of their recent rate hikes on distracted drivers.

They notice an uptick in the number of claims they're paying. They say distracted drivers are a contributing factor. State Farm notes it's had to pay out so many claims that its underwriting loss went from $4 billion in 2015 to $7 billion last year.
