Marching club 'practices' for upcoming St. Patrick's Day festivities

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club participated in its annual "Practice March" Friday in the French Quarter.

More than 200 members began the practice near Jackson Square and paraded to several restaurant and bars throughout the day.

Tommy O'Brien is serving as the group's Grand Marshall and Billy Lyons is serving as this year's "Man of the Year."

"We are trying to practice but we just don't seem to get it right," O'Brien said. "We got to keep it up every year until we get it right."

The club donates to more than two dozen local charities in our area and will officially parade on March 11th in the Irish Channel Parade.
