(WVUE) -

As expected, the Saints plan to tender wide receiver Willie Snead, according to Josh Katzenstein from our partners at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.

As an exclusive rights free agent, the Saints were the only team Snead could negotiate with. The deadline to tender Snead is Thursday and is worth $615,000. As FOX 8 Sports first reported Saturday, both sides have had productive talks on a possible long term deal. Those talks can continue into free agency.

Snead has become one of the Drew Brees' most trusted targets over the last two seasons. He finished with 895 yards and four touchdowns in 2016.
