I-10 shutdown to force new Baton Rouge to N.O. route

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Drivers won't be able to use a long stretch of Interstate 10 this weekend.

The transportation department will close eastbound lanes where the interstate intersects Highway 61 Friday night, March 10.

Eastbound drivers will be asked to exit at Highway 61 and travel the highway to Highway 641. Drivers will able to get back on the interstate at Highway 641 in Garyville.

The closure is scheduled so work crews can make bridge repairs. The full stretch of Interstate 10 will reopen Monday, March 13 at 5 in the morning.
