METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Vandals sprayed graffiti on East Jefferson High School Tuesday night, leaving at least one threatening message, according to parents and images of the graffiti captured by students.
These images, shared by parents at the school, show a message that says "shooting the school up" and "sandyhook 2017."
School officials confirmed that a message about shooting the school up was left overnight, but couldn't confirm the "sandyhook 2017" message, a reference to a mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school where 26 students and staff were killed.
Several parents, however, said their students captured the images on campus.
On Wednesday, school staff cleaned up several walls with graffiti.
But concerned parents say the school didn't notify them of the threat or take it seriously.
