NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Some people find putting together gift registries online backfires in a way they don't expect.
Identity theft experts with the Identity Theft Resource Center say con artists are using information posted on registries to steal personal information. They note many gift registries' default settings make a lot of personal information public. Some of that personal information can include occupations, ages, schools, children's names, cities and states.
