NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Armstrong International Airport's new terminal won't open on time.
According to our partners at Nola.com|The Times-Picayune, the opening of the new terminal has been pushed to February of 2019. Construction crews wanted to finish the project by October of 2018.
Work crews need more time to allow the completion of 35 gates. The original plan called for just 30. An additional five gates were added to the project in response to an unexpected increase in passenger traffic.
The expanded project increases the budget of the new terminal to $993 million. The original budget was $807 million.
