Woman spikes boss's coffee to make him forget about unpaid loan

WAUSAU, WI (WSAW/CNN) - A Wisconsin woman was arrested for allegedly spiking her boss's coffee so he would forget a loan.

Karen Zenner was charged Thursday with placing foreign objects in edibles.

Her boss told investigators he loaned Zenner $2,000, and when she attempted to repay him the check bounced.

He is a diabetic, and began noticing usually high spikes in his blood sugar and a "slimy" substance in the bottom of his coffee cup.

Zenner is accused of putting a mixture of eye drop solution, water pills, caffeine pills and anti-anxiety medicines in his coffee.

According to court documents, Zenner admitted to authorities to placing pills in her boss' coffee for two to three weeks.

Zenner is free on bond.

If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of almost four years in prison.
