Bystander injured during a shootout in the middle of a neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police search for those involved in a shootout in Algiers on March 14.

Detectives say a black four-door vehicle with at least two people inside exchanged gunfire with a person on foot in the 1500 block of Newton Street. The perpetrator on foot shot back at the vehicle. Investigators say he ran behind the vehicle while shooting as the vehicle drove away from the scene, heading eastbound on Newton Street.

During the shootout, police say a bystander was shot in the arm.
