NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The prosecution calls its first witness in the video voyeurism trial of an Uptown plastic surgeon. A woman photographed without her knowledge opened the testimony Tuesday morning in criminal court.

The woman, who Fox 8 is choosing not to identify, cried on the stand as the video was played for the jury. It shows her naked on an operating table as nurses danced to upbeat music around her.

Ali Sadeghi is accused of taking inappropriate pictures and videos of unconscious patients in 2015.

During her opening statement, Assistant District Attorney Laura Rodrigue said patients were naked or semi-naked in some cases as Sadeghi filmed his nurses around them and sent those images to his girlfriend.

Rodrigue argued the emotional trauma the victims have gone through after finding out they were recorded without their knowledge will be with them for a lifetime.

Rodrigue says jurors will have to decide if the pictures are lewd and lascivious.

Describing another videos jurors will see, Rodrigue said it will show a patient nude from the waist down, unconscious as quote "you will see a nurse standing beside the patient. She has a tool inside her mouth, the nurse doesn't have gloves on."

Rodrigue told jurors they can infer what type of motion the nurse made with the tool as she stood near the patient’s groin.

After Rodrigue, Sadeghi's attorney Lisa Wayne argued "this is not the forum to take care of doctors who have bad judgment. It's not criminal."

Wayne saying there's no question the victims suffered but that Sadeghi did nothing criminal.

Sadeghi said he is feeling confident about the trial.

Prosecutors hope to call all four victims to the stand today. If convicted of the video voyeurism charges Sadeghi faces a minimum of one year in jail.
