ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Washington-St. Tammany Parish District attorney announced the conviction of a man accused of raping two young girls today.
Jeremy M. Guild, 27, of Pearl River, pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible rape on Monday, March 20.
Investigators say the victims were 5 and 7 years old at the time of the attacks. In July 2015, the stepmother of one of the victims contacted authorities. The child revealed to the stepmother that while staying at a relative's home, Guild came into the room where the child was sleeping and raped her.
During the investigation, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office learned about the second victim, who revealed a similar story. Investigators say Guild infected the 5-year-old child with a sexually transmitted disease.
Assistant District Attorney Becky Jo Hollen prosecuted the case. A judge sentenced Guild to 40 years in prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
