NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

Some people think a new set of fees will limit services offered to travelers at Armstrong International.

According to our partners at Nola.com|The Times-Picayune, proposed ride pickup fees would apply to Uber vehicles, shuttle buses and limousines at the airport.

Uber representatives suspect new fees will make their service unaffordable for many consumers. They say that could force drivers to cease operations at the airport.

The City of Kenner has been working for months to figure out ways to regulate transportation network companies at Armstrong International. Councilman Mike Sigur notes money is needed to maintain streets near the airport, which is in the middle of major expansion project.

Council members are expected to discuss potential for pickup fees at their March 23 meeting.
