Lawyer for man accused of killing JPSO deputy wants confession tossed

GRETNA, LA (WVUE) -

The man accused of killing a Jefferson Parish Deputy is hoping a judge will throw out any statements he made during his arrest.

Lawyers for Jerman Neveaux, 19, brought the motion in criminal court Friday morning.

Neveaux is charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Detective David Michel Jr. Michel was shot three times in the back.

Neveaux's attorney, Martin Regan, argue Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies used excessive force during Neveaux's arrest.

He says his client suffered a fractured eye socket and injuries to his back and kidney.

Regan is asking the court to suppress all statements made by Neveaux at the time of his arrest including his confession to the crime.
