NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Mourners paid their last respects to a Gentilly mother and her two sons who were gunned down inside their home two weeks ago.
Hundreds of people gathered inside the New Hope Baptist Church on Reverend John Raphael Way in Central City.
30-year-old Monique Smith, 10-year-old Justin Simms, Jr., and 6-year old Jumyrin Smith died on March 10 in a quadruple shooting. Smith's 12-year-old daughter was also shot but survived.
A number of officers from the New Orleans Police Department attended the funeral alongside teachers from Samuel Green Charter School where the children went to class.
Smith's estranged husband, Justin Simms, was also at the funeral with the rest of the family. Simms says he didn't have any involvement in the murders and was in Jackson, Mississippi working at the time.
Loved ones of the victims say today gives them some closure, but they're desperate to know who's responsible.
"We're just praying for better days and hope somebody come forward because this is senseless. We've got to stop the killing, we lost three family members to foolishness," family member Janet Smith said.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
CrimeStoppers offers a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. The family urges the person responsible turn themselves in.
