NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The 31-year-old accused of crashing a Lamborghini and killing his passenger goes before a criminal court judge Monday.
A discovery hearing is scheduled for Jason Adams. He is expected to show up here with his defense attorneys.
He faces one count of vehicular homicide for the crash last May that killed his passenger, 23-year-old Kristi Lirette. Adams was driving Lirette home from the restaurant where she worked.
Police say Adams admitted to speeding and drinking at the restaurant before the crash. Lirette died on the scene when he hit a flood wall on Tchoupitoulas Street.
He has pleaded not guilty, but if convicted faces 5 to 30 years behind bars.
Lirette's family attends every court appearance and is expected at criminal court. Adams is scheduled to go on trial May 8, but it remains to be seen if that date will stick.
