(WVUE) - For one night at least, Tulane looked like the Tulane of "last" year. Especially when it came to playing and beating nationally ranked LSU, which the Green Wave did for the third straight time last night.
Once again, it was the long ball coming to the Waves rescue.Tulane Belted three homers in the game. Two off the bat of Jake Willsey and the other from Lex Kaplan as the Wave rallied to beat the Tigers 7-6 in Alex Box Stadium.
Tulane was holding on to a 2-0 lead after three and a half innings. But, the Tigers rallied in a big way. Michael Papierski stepped up in the fourth and unloaded a grand slam, giving the Tigers a 5-2 lead.
But, the Wave would rally. Scoring two in the fifth and two in the sixth with Kaplan and Willsey homering in back to back innings. to give Tulane a 6-5 lead.
In the 9th, the Wave got an insurance run off the bat of Hunter Williams. His double plated Grant Witherspoon with the eventual game-winning run.
The win was Tulane's 10th of the season and gave LSU its eighth loss of the season.
